The underlying spot reference is national. City pages add local buying context and clarify the costs that can change a shop quote.
Understanding gold prices in Sri Lanka
The international benchmark is normally quoted in US dollars per troy ounce. We convert that benchmark into Sri Lankan rupee and then into gram values. Purity is applied as a transparent fraction of 24K gold.
Because currency markets and gold markets move independently, the price in LKR can rise even when the USD gold price is flat. The reverse can also happen. For an actual transaction, compare several same-day dealer quotes and confirm the tested purity and net weight.
