How this gold price per troy ounce is calculated
We start with the current 24K gold benchmark converted into Swiss franc. For 24K gold, the metal value is multiplied by 24/24, or 100.0%. The result is then converted to the selected weight.
This is an estimated melt value. A retail jewellery price can be higher because of tax, craftsmanship and dealer margin. A cash buying price can be lower because the buyer needs to test, refine and resell the metal.
